Discovering your Core : An Introduction to Pilates

Sunday 15th March 2009 & Sunday 28th June 2009

This course is geared toward beginners, as well as, those who are looking to refresh their knowledge and revive their enthusiasm.
Pilates is a body-conditioning method that works in a different way to other fitness techniques, targeting the deep postural muscles. It works by building strength from the inside out, re-balancing the body and bringing it into correct alignment, and it is a great way to relieve unwanted stress and tension.
The day will begin by an introduced to the principles of alignment, breathing and core stability. During subsequent sessions you will be taught a selection of exercises geared to your individual needs.

Studio Equipment : Pilates with Props.

This course is geared toward those who have some experience of Pilates and are looking to add some variety to their practice.
A fun weekend challenging your proprioception. Equipment, such as the Pilates Overball and the Magic Circle are wonderful introductions to the Pilates Studio environment. These simple pieces of equipment make an ideal addition to any Pilates Matwork sessions, bringing a deeper awareness and level of understanding of the importance of the deep postural muscles in our strength, flexibility and wellbeing.
The course will begin with a review of the main principles of Pilates. During each subsequent session different piece of Pilates equipment will be introduced and a selection of exercises taught.
